Boatyard Analysis – Skeezy Cannibal Horror Preys On Wealthy Youngsters on a Yacht Ride to Massacre

A number of thrillers tackle deep-seated fears, while others use the genre to highlight social concerns. And then we have those that focus solely to excite or provoke chuckles. Then there is absurd, sadistic trash such as this: a low-budget imitation of cannibal slasher franchise that famous horror saga, its poor continuations and similar fare.

Notably, it stars a performer from the classic original Hills cast: Susan Lanier takes on the role of a figure, a blowsy server with a taste for people meat. Yet that franchise at least develop an actual backstory for the chaos; Martha and her seedy associates’ tastes are simply assumed, as though encountering cannibals is merely a routine risk of life on the water, similar to sharks or mechanical issues.

The Lambs to This Massacre

The lambs for this massacre include a group of largely naive young people in their 20s, who gather to celebrate on the yacht belonging to affluent Chad (an actor). The group consists of Chad’s always beach-ready partner a character (Meghan Carrasquillo), stag buddy another figure (Jamal R Averett), and lesbian couple one character (this performer) plus her partner (this talent).

Quantities of drugs get consumed, gallons of booze imbibed and romantic encounters undertaken as previews for this production’s real idea of entertainment: placing the young’uns at the mercy of the tattooed marina flesh-consumers, who bring them ashore after the boat experiences engine failure on the water.

A Pointless Venture

Ultimately, this fails to be even close to bloody like those movies in their most extreme, yet there is an element much more discouraging about the movie’s pointlessness, its failure to display wit, compassion, or elementary directorial talent. The acting attains a precisely calibrated level of poor quality that they are difficult to endure.

The Boatyard is available on digital platforms beginning September 22.
