Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
