Liverpool's Star Extends Apology to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones has revealed that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the team in the wake of the controversy from his public comments.

What Happened

Salah was left out from a key Champions League match following voicing frustrations and stating his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.

“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”

The manager has chosen not to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.

Team Unity

Jones insisted that the team's response remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.

He also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”

On-Field Response

Their results have remained strong in the matches since the interview fallout. Jones believes the forward's comments were not intended to harm the team.

“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and starting to win games.”
