Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds. Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT. Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy. Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting. The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier. The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed corner before the final corner on to the main straight. The veteran ended the session in 19th, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver. The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber third fastest, over half a second slower than the Australian's time. The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
