The most recent action-packed game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for embracing action and madness with similar excitement, all while weaving captivating, politically driven stories. No wonder then that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose creations have represented all of those elements.

What to Expect

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' structure by having a new setting and ensemble in every instalment.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.

And along the way, my FX team always encourages me with their steady belief and backing.”

Each game is a take of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from season to season, while always delving into the core of humanity through this intricate and chaotic viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our mutual bold, daring style to the audience.”

A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
